The Impossible Dream
To dream the impossible dream,To fight the unbeatable foe,
To bear with unbearable sorrow
To run where the brave dare not go;
To right the unrightable wrong.
To love, pure and chaste, from afar,
To try, when your arms are too weary,
To reach the unreachable star!
This is my Quest to follow that star,
No matter how hopeless, no matter how far,
To fight for the right
Without question or pause,
To be willing to march into hell
For a heavenly cause!
And I know, if I'll only be true
To this glorious Quest,
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm
When I'm laid to my rest.
And the world will be better for this,
That one man, scorned and covered with scars,
Still strove, with his last ounce of courage,
To reach the unreachable stars!
A Dream Worth Keeping
Anytime you want to be right hereJust imagine me and all this will appear
You can keep this moment all your life forever near.
A dream worth keeping.
When you're feeling lost I'll be your star
Just reach out and touch me no matter where you are
In a world where precious things are disappearing overnight
Just keep my star in sight.
I believe
We've found a dream that's worth keeping
For more than just today
And even though
The winds of change may come sweeping
It's still a dream worth keeping
So don't let it fade away.
Maybe you'll be in some distant land
Feeling all alone, but I'll be close at hand
And every time you see a rainbow paint the sky behind the rain
You'll be here again.
Some day you might be thinking
That life has passed you by
Your spirits might be sinking
With hope in short supply
And that's the reason why
That's the reason why
I know this dream's worth keeping
As long as it will stay
And even when you see the darkness come creeping
A dream worth keeping
Will never fade away....
Into The West
Lay down your sweet and weary headNight is falling you have come to journey's end
Sleep now and dream of the ones who came before
They are calling from across the distant shore.
Why do you weep?
What are these tears across your face?
Soon you will see
All of your fears will pass away
Safe in my arms you're only sleeping
What can you see
On the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea
A pale moon rises
The ships have come to carry you home.
And all will turn
To silver glass
A light on the water
All souls pass...
Hope fades into the world of night
The shadows falling out of memory and time
Don't say we have come now to the end
White shores are calling
You and I will meet again
And you'll be here in my arms
Just sleeping
What can you see
On the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea
A pale moon rises
The ships have come to carry you home.
And all will turn
To silver glass
A light on the water
Grey ships pass
Into the west
Remember Me
Remember meIn a Bible cracked and faded by the years
Remember me
In a sanctuary filled with silent prayer
And age to age and heart to heart
Bound by grace and peace
Child of wonder Child of God
I've remembered you
Remember me
Remember me
When the color of a sunset fills the sky
Remember me
When you pray and tears of joy fall from your eyes
And age to age and heart to heart
Bound by grace and peace
Child of wonder Child of God
I've remembered you
Remember me
Remember me
When the children leave their Sunday school with smiles
Remember me
When they're old enough to teach
Old enough to preach
Old enough to reach
And age to age and heart to heart
Bound by grace and peace
Child of wonder Child of God
I've remembered you
Remember me
Shine
Dull as dirtYou can't assert the kind of light
That might persuade
A strict dictator to retire
Fire the army
Teach the poor origami
The truth is in
The proof is when you hear your heart start asking,
"What's my motivation?"
And try as you may, there isn't a way
To explain the kind of change
That would make an Eskimo renounce fur
That would make a vegetarian barbecue hamster
Unless you can trace this about-face
To a certain sign...
Shine
Make 'em wonder what you've got
Make 'em wish that they were not
On the outside looking bored
Shine
Let it shine before all men
Let ;em see good works, and then
Let 'em glorify the Lord
Out of the shaker and onto the plate
It isn't Karma
It sure ain't fate
That would make a Deadhead sell his van
That would make a schizophrenic turn in his crayons
Oprah freaks
And science seeks a rationale
That shall excuse
This strange behavior
When you let it shine
You will inspire
The kind of entire turnaround
That would make a bouncer take ballet
(even bouncers who aren't happy)
But out of the glare
With nowhere to turn
You ain't gonna learn it on "What's My Line?"
Shine
Make 'em wonder what you've got
Make 'em wish that they were not
On the outside looking bored
Shine
Let it shine before all men
Let ;em see good works, and then
Let 'em glorify the Lord
